this is my “i got robbed yesterday and was up all night changing passwords and being mad so i need to be comfortable and feel like i could maybe kick some ass if necessary” outfit.  sigh.  i love chicago and it could happen anywhere, but there is still something so demoralizing about coming home to your front door kicked in and your laptop and vintage jewelry collection gone.  i like to think this ensemble makes me look like someone you don’t want to mess with.

thanks to amy rubin for taking these pics of me.  she’s a keeper.

at least the thieves left me this amazing 2 finger ring, which my best friend zak got me for christmas and is one of my most prized possessions

outfit details: denim skirt is banana republic; red polka dotted t with blue bird decals is from urban outfitters; red tights are hue; headband is thrifted; shoes are fluevog; motocross jacket is bebe; 2 finger ring is by a designer who i can’t recall right now, but who i will remember and plug here soon, don’t you worry.

song inspiration: “dr. hellier” by james.  james has been and continues to be my very favorite band in the world, since i was 16 years old, really.  they just released a new mini-album called the night before.  so far this is my favorite song from it – it’s live so the sound isn’t amazing, but james is famous for their live performances so it’s worth watching.  then get the album.  then email me to tell me how awesome it is.  and then we can squee together when they announce an american tour, which they better do quickly.  i need some good news.
