happy new year, cats and kittens! so one of my (many) new year’s resolutions is to update this blog more. i suck at it so bad. i’m a busy girl, guys, what can i say? plus i’ll admit there are other factors too – i’m not very photogenic and inventive compared to all the beautiful bloggers whose stuff i read every day (looking at you fashionflirt and already pretty), i have been experiencing some weird dysmorphia lately for no discernible reason, and i have so many hobbies and side projects that it’s hard to focus on posting. but i do love it, just because most people who know me are fairly desensitized to my quirky ensembles and old-fashioned style, and i like to be appreciated. haha, that sounds funny, but it IS fun to share my outfits with the lovely internet folks who also enjoy such things. anyhoo, i have a backlog of outfit shots to hopefully post soon, but let me jump ahead to show you what i am wearing at this. very. moment.
although i think it looks like it is, this dress is not vintage. i purchased this simple black dress on ebay – it’s from target’s ‘go international’ line and i got it for $5. score! which brings up another new year’s resolution – no ebay for at least a month! how will i ever survive? but i want to simplify and cut down on consumption, and i have a vast collection of dresses and accessories, so i want to concetrate on wearing those things instead of jumping to search out my own version of whatever i like on other people’s blogs. reading style blogs can be dangerous, people.
and here’s a close up of my treasured day of the dead neckerchief. wow, i just used the word neckerchief for the first time in my life. good times.
outfit details: aforementioned black dress is ‘go international’; black patent wedges are from urban outfitters (via ebay); red tights are we love colors (via ebay); neckerchief (yay!) is rockmount ranchwear, the best western brand in the world
song inspiration: “dreaming” by allo darlin’. the lucksmiths broke up this year and this london band is satisfying that void and thus my twee sweet tooth nicely. i discovered them because they have some kind of connection with hefner, another band that i used to dig back in the day. if i ever figure out what that connection is, i’ll be sure to let you know, but in the meantime i have been enjoying their 2010 release and it will make an appearance on my long-awaited best of 2010 mix – coming tomorrow! don’t touch that dial, folks.
