chicago is in the middle of a straight-up blizzard. it’s cold and wet and the air is white and swirling with snow, so in an effort to avoid the winter blahs, i am posting a simple outfit that i wore when todd and i took our yearly pilgrimage to puerto rico over christmas. this is a vintage deweese dress and is a summertime staple for me. i looked for one of these for years. they are amazing, made out of swimsuit material with built in cups. they are pretty expensive but if you troll ebay, you might find a good deal, as i finally did.
this was right before an amazing thunderstorm hit san juan (we had a minor earthquake too!). i do love me some thunderstorms. just look at that sky!
me and the hubs with our typical self portrait. ah, puerto rico, the island of enchantment. i can’t wait to go back.
outfit details: dress is vintage deweese; coral wedge sandals are frye; silk scarf in hair was purchased at a kiosk in san juan
song inspiration: “i was made for sunny days” by the weepies. going with my tropical vacation theme, here’s a live recording of one of the songs from my best of 2010 mix. the weepies are awesome. enjoy.
I especially love the turquoise scarf you put with the outfit – love the whole thing, but that scarf makes it pop!
Ah, Puerto Rico! I love PR. I’ve only been once, but have been dying to go back ever since. And that Deweese dress? I’m now officially obsessed.
