check it – i am almost wearing pants! well, vintage culottes, really, but this is the closest i have gotten to wearing pants in almost 2 years (haven’t worn jeans in over 3). it wasn’t really a conscious decision – although i love the look of good jeans/pants on other girls, i feel like they aren’t nearly as fun or flattering on me as dresses, so i kinda phased them out. but i found these plaid culottes recently at a thrift store and thought i might as well give them a try. and i like the look, except it’s not quite a comfortable as a nice flowy skirt is.
outfit details: vintage plaid shorts are handmade; sandals are fluevogs; shirt is an old band tee from the canadian group called absent sound; silk scarf, bracelets and headband are thrifted
song inspiration: “stuck in line” by absent sound. this is a band from winnipeg that i met years ago at the pitchfork music festival. they ended up staying at my house a few times on tours when they came through chicago. they are pretty awesome people who make really ethereal emo-ish music that builds nicely. and we all know i’m a sucker for a good build in a tune.
You look fabtastic!
Those culottes are to die for. I love a bright, fun, playful and cheerful plaid print.
I totally relate to your aesthetic as a non-jean/pant/trouser wearer, but every once in a while a style will catch my eye at the thrift (floral palazzos? why not). Love the culottes; they look a bit like a skirt and are the perfect summer print.
